SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Sandy Springs police released dramatic body camera video of the moment one of their officers was shot while responding to a report of gunfire last month.
Around 11 a.m. on Oct. 14, officers responded to a home on Carroll Manor Drive to investigate reports of gunfire inside the home.
Upon arrival, the officer was shot in his finger. The suspect later barricaded himself inside a room in the home, leading SWAT units to respond. After two hours, the suspect surrendered and was arrested without further incident, Sandy Springs police say.
Bullets could be heard throughout the body camera video. An officer could also be heard saying that he was shot in his finger.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to assist in the ongoing investigation.
The identity of the suspect was not released.
