The Georgia Department of Public Health says Clarke County added three weekend deaths from coronavirus. The Athens total since March of last year climbs to 81. Oconee County has recorded 45 deaths from COVID 19.

Grade school students in Athens will continue online learning for at least two more weeks: the Clarke County School District says it will be February 5 at earliest before students in grades K through 8 return to classrooms.

Schools in Gainesville and Hall County are returning to in-classroom instruction today. Students had been learning virtually since returning from their Christmas break earlier this month.

Governor Brian Kemp says he will flesh out Georgia’s coronavirus distribution plan this week: he’s calling on the federal government to send more vaccine doses to Georgia.

People who live in other states are traveling to Georgia to get the COVID 19 vaccine. Public Health Commissioner Kathleen Toomey says she’s trying to make sure everyone involved in distributing the vaccine knows only to give it to Georgia residents.
