Some Atlantans seem worried about a real-life "Contagion."
Part of the new hit movie was filmed at CDC headquarters in Atlanta. Its plot involves a mysterious -- and quickly deadly -- airborne disease.
The CDC's Director of Epidemic Intelligence tells Channel 2 Action News he hopes fear isn't the only thing people take from the movie.
"It's an amazing teachable moment," he says. "The first thing, it's a movie and like any story it's made to entertain and be exciting and dramatic. And the real world is a little bit different."
Some metro residents may not think so. Kennestone Hospital in Marietta's seen a rise in requests for bird flu testing -- one of the direct plot points in the film.
CDC officials say if anything should be taken from the film; it's the idea that steps can be taken to prevent the spread of disease.
