The Memorial Day weekend began with an apparent drowning Friday night at Lake Allatoona in Acworth.
A 20-year-old man jumped from a boat and did not resurface, Tim Cavender with Cherokee County fire and rescue said. Emergency workers were called to the scene about 7:15 p.m. The man was in a boat with two others near Harbor Town Marina, off Galts Ferry Road.
Authorities know the man’s name, but have not released it. Dive teams returned to the lake to continue the search Saturday morning.
