Finally, it consistently feels like Fall this month as the daylight hours decrease and temperatures cool through the afternoons.
However, be aware that 90s can still lurk around the corner for the first week of the month as the record latest 90 degree temperature reading in Atlanta occurred on October 9, 1941.

Conversely, Metro Atlanta has experienced its earliest frost on record in mid-October, on October 11, 1906.

Mid-October Record Lows:
- October 11: 31 degrees in 1906
- October 12: 36 degrees in 1906
- October 13: 37 degrees in 1917
Autumn Dry Spell Continues
Overall, Fall is the driest season for the area, with only 11.08 inches throughout the 90 day period.
The driest of the dry? October, with only 3.28 inches of rainfall on average.

By the end of the month, afternoon temperatures cool into the upper 60s and morning lows dip into the upper 40s.
But October can be quite frigid, particularly around Halloween!
Back in 1993, I was trick-or-treating in Alpharetta while steady snow showers fell around my neighborhood.
Officially, a Trace of snow was reported at the Atlanta Airport that Halloween.
