A: Another common name for it may be ‘Butterfly Rose’. Really, it could be any rose variety. The leaves can get wet, of course, but not getting the leaves wet decreases the chances of the plant getting a leaf disease. Foliar diseases like black spot are common on roses.

It helps control two common problems - black spot and Japanese beetles. Last year, I discovered rose sawfly on my Knock Outs. Many of these pests eat the leaves.
When using pesticides:
-ALWAYS read and follow the label directions.
-Do some research and product comparisons.
-Try other measures before resorting to chemical applications.
-In consideration of pollinators, do not spray blooms directly with pesticides. If the bloom needs to be sprayed, apply the pesticides in the evening hours.
