US rescues 1 of 2 crew members from fighter jet downed over Iran, sources say

US jet downed: The US has rescued a pilot from the fighter jet that was shot down over Iran, sources told CNN. The status of a second crew member was not immediately clear, as US search and rescue efforts continue. A CNN analysis of images published by Iranian media matches that of an F-15 aircraft.

Trump threat: President Donald Trump issued a new a warning to Tehran, saying the US military “hasn’t even started destroying what’s left in Iran.” This came after a strike on a key bridge just outside Tehran killed at least eight people.

Continued Iranian attacks: In addition to striking a desalination plant in Kuwait, fresh attacks have been reported by the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. US intelligence assesses Iran maintains significant missile-launching capability, according to sources.

War hits consumers’ wallets: The European Union’s energy chief cautioned that energy prices will be higher “for a very long time.” Global food prices rose in March, driven largely by increasing energy costs.
