The Carex bed rails, manufactured by Compass Health Brands of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, were sold between 2012 and 2021.

Compass said it has received three reports of entrapment deaths associated with the Carex bed support rail model P566. The victims were in Ohio, California, and Washington, and in each incident the bed rail was not securely attached to the bed, allowing the victim to be trapped between the rail and the mattress.

There have been no reports of any incidents with the Carex Easy Up 2-in-1 bed rail (model P569), but it is also being recalled.

Both bed rails were sold at medical supply stores across the United States and online by Carex, Amazon, and Walmart. The beds were sold from November 2012 through December 2021 for $22-$80.

Anyone who has the products should immediately stop using them and contact Compass Health Brands for a free repair kit for the bed support rail, or a refund for the Easy Up 2-in-1 bed rail.
