Gwinnett County police are investigating the murder of a man found outside of the Paces Crossing Apartments on Jimmy Carter Boulevard in unincorporated Norcross.

Corporal Jake Smith tells WSB they were called to the scene around 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

"The first officer on scene found an adult male victim in his mid 30's, very close to his apartment, and he had been shot a few times," said Smith.

He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries.

"This happened in relatively close proximity to another homicide that happened in the late evening hours of October 1st.  We don't think that they have anything to do with each other, just an unfortunate coincidence in time and geography there," said Smith.

Police are still trying to determine a motive and the victim's name has not been released.
