The life of the late Capt. Herb Emory was remembered today in the Georgia House.
Rep. Micah Gravley (R-Douglasville) presented a resolution honoring Herb’s life to his wife Karen who was accompanied by several members of the WSB traffic team.
“He was a distinguished Douglas County citizen and a Georgia icon,” says Gravley. “Every morning he got us safely to work and every evening helped us navigate the way home.”
Also on hand were Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller and several other members of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.
Karen Emory pointed out that her husband was a huge supporter of law enforcement and first responders, often riding along with sheriff’s deputies and helping out at the scene of accidents.
“He lost his life doing what he loved doing—helping children at the scene of an accident near our home,” she says.
State lawmakers have also voted this session to name the bridge at Lee Road over I-20 in Douglas County as well as the new GA 400 flyover ramp for Herb.
Karen says he would be humbled by the recognition.
“I can truly tell you that you all, as Herb would say, have put a smile on my face and song in my heart today,” she says.
