A body has been found at the bottom of the Chattahoochee River in Forsyth County, fire officials confirmed.
The body was found in the river near the McGinnis Ferry Bridge.
Deputies said they plan to release the name of the boater when the family is notified.
In the meantime, the circumstances surrounding the tragedy are still under investigation.
Boater Joe DeLoach was enjoying a day out on the Chattahoochee River when he suddenly heard the sirens.
"We (saw) boats in the river and they take off down the river, then we see ambulance, fire trucks, cops," DeLoach said.
Authorities with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said they do not know whether or not the boater suffered some sort of medical emergency on the river.
"The preliminary investigation shows there were no signs of foul play as of right now, but this is an ongoing investigation," Forsyth County Sheriff’s deputy Epifanio Rodriguez said.
DeLoach said the area where the boater was found can be dangerous.
"You got one little gap you can go through, and you hit it wrong, you are going to flip over," he said.
It is not clear if that is what caused the boater to go overboard.
