A Vermont game warden came across a peculiar sight Wednesday — a 4-foot lizard crossing the road.

The Tegu "red dragon" had escaped from its owner's house and was wandering along the road, the Vermont Game Warden Association said on social media.

The lizard was safely reunited with its owners.

Tegus are an invasive species. The red tegus can reach up to 4.5 feet in length. A growing population can be found in parts of Florida threatening native wildlife. Tegus can also be found in parts of Georgia.
