The man accused of bringing a baby to a couple of armed robberies in Buckhead has been arrested in Macon.

Brandon Nicholas Lawson, 21, was booked into the Bibb County jail Thursday after he was arrested for allegedly stealing a vehicle and giving a false name, jail records show.

Lawson is expected to be returned to Atlanta to answer to charges in two armed robberies, Atlanta police officer John Chafee said.

It wasn’t necessarily the crimes that made Lawson standout, as much as it was those he took along for the ride.

Police released surveillance video showing Lawson with a woman and a baby outside the Publix near Phipps Plaza.

Police have not said if the woman will also face charges. Her name has not been released.

Just after 10 p.m. Saturday, a 60-year-old man was walking home from the Publix when he saw a woman with a stroller and a crying baby. While he was watching the child, the suspect put a gun to the back of the man’s head, police said.

The suspect told the victim not to turn around and hand over his money, credit cards and PIN number.

“I’ve had a lot of robberies, but this is the first time I’ve seen them bring a small infant like that with them,” Detective E. Johnson told Channel 2 Action News.

The next afternoon, Atlanta police reported a similar incident happening to a 68-year-old man on Oak Valley Road.

Two men were walking home from the grocery store when a man pointed a gun and demanding money, according to the police report. This time, the suspect threatened to kill the men if they didn’t give up their wallets.
