This year, Atlanta Habitat is making it a goal to help 30 of the more than 300 families on their affordable home-purchase wait-list become first-time homebuyers.

“Right now, we can raise dollars (instead of our hammers) to still build together and make an impact, despite the challenges we face,” representatives with Atlanta Habitat tells WSB.

And Consumer Expert Clark Howard is issuing a call-to-action for WSB’s listeners: “I LOVE Atlanta Habitat. So, I’m putting up $40,000 of my own money as a challenge to you, and together, we’re gonna build an affordable home for a hardworking family to buy. Join me, and let’s make this happen!”

On average, Atlanta Habitat says a traditional house-build engages about 320 volunteers.

“We are calling on all painters, landscapers, roofers, and carpenters to take your place on our virtual build team with a goal of each raising or donating $250 or more to ‘build an Atlanta Habitat home from home,’” Atlanta Habitat explains.
