GAINESVILLE, GA — Two men have been sentenced to federal prison after being authorities seized more than 700 pounds of meth in a tractor-trailer in the metro Atlanta area in 2025.

Federal prosecutors say DEA agents arrested Andres Jasso, Jr. of Brookhaven, and Rufino Pineda-Perez, of Mexico, in June 2025 after seeing them park next to the tractor-trailer outside a warehouse in Gainesville.

Authorities said they later found 20 pallets of boxes that contained cucumbers and thousands of individually wrapped packages of methamphetamine.

At the time of the arrest, DEA Atlanta officials said the methamphetamine had a street value of $4.5 million.

DEA officials said Pineda-Perez is allegedly a citizen and national of Mexico with no legal status in the United States.

Both men were sentenced to 15 years in prison.
