Gwinnett County Police have identified a suspect wanted in at least eight violent robberies.
Rufus Smith, 25, who they say robbed a store last year, was released from jail in April. Corporal Jake Smith tells Channel 2 Action News once he was out, the robberies started back up.
"We consider him very dangerous. He's made it known through various channels that he has no interest in going back to jail," said Smith.
Smith says he targeted gas stations and convenience stores in the northern part of the county near Buford and Suwanee.
Smith says the suspect has fired shots during two of these robberies, although no one was injured.
"When he gets frustrated he's not been afraid to discharge a round. He's not actually hit anybody yet, but it's the kind of situation where we fear if he's not caught quickly, he certainly could hurt someone in the course of one of these robberies," said Smith.
DeKalb County Police are trying to determine if the man is responsible for a robbery in which a clerk was shot.
