Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger wants answers concerning the DOJ’s recent election law lawsuit

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger wants to know who is behind the lawsuit filed by the Department of Justice over the state’s new election law.

He has filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the DOJ to release any records of contact with Stacey Abrams, her Fair Fight Action group or more than 60 other such organizations.

“Are they taking orders from Stacey Abrams and these liberate activists groups, or are they being run by liberal activists within the Department of Justice,” Raffensperger commented to WSB’s Sandra Parrish.

The lawsuit is among eight filed against Georgia’s new law so far. He questions why the DOJ is filing suit against Georgia when other states have the same or similar provisions.

“In Delaware, New York, and New Jersey they have the same laws as we perhaps have, and yet they want to attack Georgia and single us out and we’d like to know why,” he says.

Lauren Groh-Wargo, CEO of Fair Fight Action, responded to the claims over Twitter.

“The latest nonsense from Brad Raffensperger is more grandstanding and another sad move by a very desperate man,” she posted.
