Police investigating shooting at Steak n’ Shake in Cobb County

SMYRNA, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting that happened at a Smyrna Steak ‘n Shake.

Police were called to the Steak n’ Shake Friday afternoon at 2736 Cobb Pkwy. It’s across from the Battery and adjacent to I-285 near Cumberland Mall.

NewsChopper 2 was over the restaurant, where crime scene tape was strung up in the parking lot and there were several law enforcement vehicles congregated in the parking lot. There was also at least one ambulance at the scene.

Cobb County police said they were assisting Smyrna Police in the investigation.

Smyrna police said one person was shot and taken to the hospital. The shooting may have stemmed from a fight in the parking lot.

Another other person involved left the scene. It’s unclear if that person was the shooter.

A handgun was visible on the ground in the parking lot from the NewsChopper 2 camera.

Police said they don’t believe there is a danger to the public but the investigation is ongoing.
