STONE MOUNTAIN, GA — Nearly 500 layoffs are planned at one of metro Atlanta’s largest tourist destinations.

Stone Mountain Park posted a notice to Georgia’s WARN Act database indicating staff across multiple positions will lose their jobs effective June 1.

The WARN Act requires certain employers to give advance notice of large layoffs to allow workers time to prepare for job loss.

A statement from Stone Mountain officials says, “We have a shared commitment to collaboration, with Thrive SMP, the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, and the park’s future operator, working closely to ensure a smooth transition and support the continued long-term success of stone Mountain Park.”

No reason was provided for the layoffs.

This is a developing story.
