Mayor Dickens makes special request ahead of Dream’s sold-out Finals game

ATLANTA — Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens is asking employers and educators to show some flexibility Thursday as the Atlanta Dream prepare to play Game 6 of the WNBA Finals at State Farm Arena.

The Dream trail the Golden State Valkyries 3-2 in the series and are on the brink of elimination in Game 6.

In a social media post, Dickens encouraged employers and educators to “extend a little grace” to Dream fans who may be attending the game or following along on their devices.

Dear Atlanta Employers and Educators,

On Thursday, October 29, I’m asking you to show a little love and extend a little grace to your students and employees who may be cheering on the Atlanta Dream. Whether they’re at the game or catching a few moments on their devices, please allow them to be excited to cheer on our home team.

After all, Atlanta is a group project, and every Atlantan has a role to play! Our collective energy, enthusiasm and support are vital as we cheer the Dream toward a WNBA Championship!

So don’t make your students or employees sneak a peek at the game. Be the supportive leaders we know you are. Lean into this historic moment, embrace the excitement and let Atlanta show up for Atlanta!

Do it for the A!

Let them watch.

Let them cheer.

Let them DREAM!

ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM!

The mayor asked that fans be allowed to show their excitement and support for Atlanta’s home team.

The Dream will face the Golden State Valkyries at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in front of a sold-out crowd and hope to force a Game 7.

The team confirmed that tickets for Game 6 at State Farm Arena have sold out.

As with Games 3 and 4, the Dream worked with the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena to host Thursday’s matchup at the venue.

State Farm Arena is also set to become the Dream’s permanent home arena beginning in 2027.
