A massive great white shark has recently been tracked off the coast of Georgia.
WJCL-TV reports that OCEARCH, a nonprofit that tracks sharks, spotted the great white named ‘Ironbound’ northeast of Hilton Head Island on May 18. Just a week earlier, the shark was tracked right off the Georgia coast south of Savannah.
OCEARCH says the shark is about 12 feet long and weighs about 1,200 pounds.
WJCL-TV reports that ‘Ironbound’ was tagged by OCEARCH near Nova Scotia in 2019 and they have been tracking the great white ever since.
White sharks Ironbound and Maple have officially left the #GulfofMexico to begin their journey north. They are currently off the east coast of Florida between Melbourne and Port Saint Lucie.
