Longtime WSB-TV reporter Don McClellan dies at 88 after Parkinson’s disease battle

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Don McClellan, a WSB-TV legend who worked as a reporter at the station for 55 years, died Sunday morning. McClellan’s son said his father died peacefully at his home in Smyrna.

He was 88 years old and would have turned 89 years old on Oct. 6.

“He was aware the time was near, and had made peace with the Lord. He will be dearly missed,” Scott McClellan said.

McClellan worked as a reporter for 55 years and retired from Channel 2 Action News in 2008.

McClellan suffered from Parkinson’s disease, but he did not that slow him down, especially for the AJC Peachtree Road Race.

In an interview with Channel 2 in 2018, McClellan said he wanted to share his health journey to show others you can go on with your life.

The Georgia Association of Broadcasters inducted McClellan into the Hall of Fame in 2010.
