ATLANTA — A Delta flight on its way to Seattle Sunday night had to turn around because of a problem with one of its anti-icing systems.
Delta Flight 769 initially took off from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport around 7:30 p.m.
“The aircraft was en route when the crew received an indication of a possible issue with one of the wing’s anti-icing systems. As a precaution, they elected to return to Atlanta, where the aircraft landed without incident,” the airline said in a statement. “The anti-ice system flows heat from the engines to the wings to keep them from icing while in-flight.”
According to the flight path tracked by Flightaware.com, the plane circled around Memphis before turning back.
The flight had 196 passengers and six crew members.
Delta said the flight was rescheduled and took off from Atlanta on Monday morning. The airline said customers were offered hotel and meal accommodations for the evening.
