ATLANTA — A student at Georgia Tech suffered minor burn injuries after a small explosion in a lab.
It happened at the Molecular Science and Engineering Building in the BioQuad area of campus. The incident was isolated.
According to a Georgia Tech official, “a chemical explosion inside a lab at Georgia Tech has resulted in one student being treated for minor burn injuries.”
The student was rushed to the hospital.
As a precaution, authorities evacuated the building. Authorities, including fire, police and Environmental Health and Safety experts are currently on campus to make sure the area is safe.
Atlanta Fire and Rescue officials say there are no hazmat concerns and people are now returning to their offices.
