Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff is firing back at President Donald Trump as the two continue a war of words that began over the weekend.
Speaking at a town hall with Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, Ossoff called Trump “the draft dodging crook president.”
Ossoff also criticized Trump over his threat to send Kelly to prison after the Arizona senator urged service members to ignore unlawful orders.
“He tried to imprison this man who embodies American heroism,” Ossoff said.
Ossoff also defended Kelly by pointing to what he described as a fundamental principle of military law.
“Donald Trump tried to lock him up for daring to state in public a fundamental principle of military law,” Ossoff said.
During the town hall, Ossoff also criticized Trump over the conflict with Iran.
“He has plunged our nation recklessly into a war he knows not to end, or to win,” Ossoff said.
The latest remarks come after Trump referred to Ossoff as a “Pee-wee Herman look-a-like” earlier this week.
“You mean Pee-wee Herman?” Trump said.
The exchange began after Ossoff criticized Trump over his plans to build a new White House ballroom and accused the president of wanting to travel with his longtime aide Natalie Harp rather than do his job.
The White House has called Ossoff “a radical, extremist ‘Dumocrat.’”
