Trump responds after Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff criticizes ballroom project

ATLANTA — President Donald Trump is criticizing Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff after the Democrat made pointed remarks about the president during an election rally over the weekend.

During the rally, Ossoff criticized Trump for focusing on the ballroom project and traveling with Natalie Harp, the president’s executive assistant. Ossoff also referenced a plane gifted by the Emir of Qatar.

Trump responded to Ossoff’s criticism by comparing the Georgia senator to Pee-wee Herman.

“You mean Pee-wee Herman? A Pee-wee Herman look-a-like. But no, I would much rather do other things, we’re building a great facility here,” Trump said.

The president says the ballroom is necessary for national security reasons.

The Trump administration has filed an emergency request with the U.S. Supreme Court seeking to overrule a lower court injunction that halted construction on the ballroom project.
