WOODSTOCK, GA — A former Woodstock police officer pleads guilty in the death of a 20-year-old suspect and gets 500 hours of community service.

In October of 2023 Officer Grant Matthew Shaw shot Emmanuel Millard after Millard ran from officers and sent them on a high speed chase.

Around 10:45 p.m. on October 12, 2023, officers attempted to pull over Millard’s Hyundai near Highway 92 and Hames Road in Woodstock for a series of traffic offenses, according to the Woodstock Police Department.

Millard was taken to the hospital where he died two days later.

The Cobb County DA Office says Shaw entered a non-negotiated guilty plea agreement to serve 10 years for involuntary manslaughter.

The judge suspended the sentence and required Shaw to perform 500 hours of community service.
