A former math teacher at Tucker Middle School will spend 20 years in prison.

"Almarcus Thomas was a teacher at Tucker Middle School," says Dekalb County's chief assistant district attorney, Nicole Golden, "and he took advantage of a young girl who was one of his students -- who, at the time, was only 14-years old."

The relationship between lasted almost a year. Almost a year after the teacher's arrest, the man now faces decades in jail.

"He will be serving 20 years in prison," says Golden. Thomas will then serve the rest of his 30-year sentence on probation. "He also has to register as a sex offender."

Of the initial 22-count indictment, Thomas pled guilty to 11 reduced charges: seven counts of child molestation, three counts of statutory rape, and one count of invasion of privacy -- which stemmed from an up-skirt photo Thomas took of a fellow teacher.
