Former Georgia coach Mark Richt named to 2026 SEC Football Legends class

Chick-Fil-A Dawg Bowl 2025 Former University of Georgia and Hall of Fame coach Mark Richt held his third annual Chick-Fil-A Dawg Bowl on Wednesday, which raises money to fight Parkinson’s and Crohn’s diseases.

ATHENS, GA — Former Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt is set to be honored as part of the 2026 SEC Football Legends class during events surrounding the SEC Football Championship Game in Atlanta later this year.

The Southeastern Conference announced the 16-member class on Thursday, with honorees expected to be recognized during the SEC Football Weekend of Champions Dec. 4-5.

The annual SEC Legends Celebration is scheduled for Dec. 4 at the College Football Hall of Fame. The honorees will also be recognized before the SEC Championship Game Dec. 5 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Richt coached the Georgia Bulldogs from 2001 through 2015 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2023.

Richt was named SEC Coach of the Year in both championship seasons. He also helped 301 Georgia players earn degrees and sent 77 players to the NFL Draft.
