DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A former DeKalb County police sergeant has been indicted after being accused of rape and kidnapping.

Prosecutors say DNA tied Cameron Livsey to the sexual assaults of two teenage girls more than 15 years ago.

In April, Livesey was arrested by the FBI on one count of intent to view images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Livsey was placed on administrative leave and later resigned from DeKalb County Police after his arrest.

“No matter the evidence, no matter the case, we will hold those offenders accountable,” DeKalb County Police Chief Gregory Padrick said. “We do not want them to reflect upon what we do as an honest profession.”

Dekalb County District Attorney Sherry Boston says it’s clear to investigators that as a cop, Livsey tried to cover his tracks.

“This case is deeply disturbing, particularly because the individual now charged was a DeKalb County Police Officer at the time of the alleged crimes,” Padrick said. “There is no way to minimize the seriousness of that fact. No badge, no rank, and no position places anyone above the law.
