DEKALB COUNTY, GA — Fire and emergency services personnel all across Georgia are being honored Friday with a memorial service.
The names of Savannah Fire Department’s James Houston and DeKalb County Fire Rescue’s Preston Fant, are etched into the memorial wall at the Georgia public safety training center.
According to Greene County Fire Chief Rodney Wiggins, it is important for loved ones to make sure their names do not disappear.
“Two men, two firefighters, two families, two different centuries,” Wiggins said.
Officials say the memorial wall began in 1997, and continues to take submissions to honor fire and emergency personnel.
“It’s not just to report,” he said. “It is a family whose world has forever changed.”
