ATLANTA — Friday, Oct. 30, marks the final day of early voting in Georgia ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections, with more than 2.3 million voters already casting ballots in person.

The state has surpassed its previous in-person early voting record set during the 2022 midterms, according to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

“Now’s your time to get out and vote if you haven’t already,” Raffensperger said.

More than 111,000 absentee ballots have also been returned and accepted.

Raffensperger expects another large turnout on Election Day, with approximately 1.5 million Georgians potentially heading to the polls Tuesday.

“If history is any judge, we’ll probably be in that range of 1 and a half million people who will come out on Tuesday,” Raffensperger said.

He predicts total voter turnout will surpass 4 million, setting another record for a gubernatorial election cycle.

“We’ll be over 4 million people which will be another record for this cycle, the gubernatorial cycle,” Raffensperger said.

Meanwhile, both political parties are preparing for their final campaign efforts as polls show Georgia’s governor’s race remains a statistical tie.

Georgia Republican Party Chairman Josh McKoon says voter turnout will play a major role in determining the outcome.

“This election is going to be very close and it really will come down to who turns out on Tuesday,” McKoon said.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin says Democrats are encouraged by their position in Georgia but plan to continue campaigning through Election Day.

“We’re feeling good but as I’ve told folks that while we have momentum on our side we can’t rely on momentum alone, we still need to get out there, knock on doors and turn out the vote,” Martin said.

Raffensperger also pointed to an outside audit of Georgia’s voter registration records.

“The Department of Audits did an outside audit of our voters list and found that our list is 99.9% accurate,” Raffensperger said.

Some voters in metro Atlanta have reported delays receiving absentee ballots. Those who requested a ballot but have not received it still have the option to vote in person.

Early voting ends Friday, with Election Day scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
