Milton police lieutenant fired after deadly hit-and-run on I-75

COBB COUNTY, GA — The driver accused in a deadly hit and run on Interstate 75 northbound in Marietta last week is identified as a Milton police officer, officials say.

Officials say 48-year old Christopher Bradshaw of Canton faces homicide by vehicle and felony hit and run charges.

He has since been fired following the deadly crash on I-75.

Investigators say Bradshaw struck and killed tractor-trailer driver Terrell Lowdermilk of Chattanooga. Lowdermilk had gotten out of his big rig after being involved in a separate crash near South Marietta Parkway.

Police say Bradshaw, who was off duty at the time, left the scene but later turned himself in. He faces charges of homicide by vehicle and felony hit and run.

Marietta police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy previously said Bradshaw’s truck, a black 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, was located thanks to tips from the public and assistance from the Cobb County Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center.

Milton Police officials say Bradshaw was initially suspended but has since been terminated. He had been with the department for 14 years.
