Brookhaven mayor lifting stop work order

City of Brookhaven orders work to place Google Fiber stopped after gas main hit by workers

Brookhaven’s mayor is partially lifting last week’s stop-work order for Google fiber install work.

John Park issued the order after contractors ruptured a gas main while digging alongside Ashford Dunwoody Road near Montgomery Elementary School, forcing the school into lockdown.

Park wanted a thorough review of procedures after multiple instances of Google workers piercing buried utility lines with their equipment.

The mayor is keeping a stop-work order on any digging until at least Jan. 6., but the company can resume non-digging activities such as installations and testing.
