Atlanta police are asking for the public’s help to find the person in a video seen beating a small dog multiple times. The incident was on December 17th in southwest Atlanta at the Landing Square Apartments at 3378 Greenbriar Parkway.
A resident’s Ring doorbell camera caught the incident on video in a breezeway of the complex. “It was an unspeakable act that was caught on camera to our benefit,” Atlanta police officer Anthony Grant tells WSB Radio.
“A witness had witnessed a cruel act of a suspect - a female - who was kicking an animal…a small dog,” says Grant. The video shows a small white dog, possibly a Maltese, being picked up by the woman. She removes her shoe and hits the dog with it up to at least nine times over the course of a few seconds. You can hear the dog yelping. The woman then puts her shoe back on before carrying the dog away.
Grant says Atlanta police officers picked up the case from a Fulton County Animal Services officer who called APD. “(The responding APD officers) actually spoke with management on the property, but unfortunately they weren’t able to ID a suspect at that time or find a resident.”
Of the video, Grant says it is circulating on social media. “We’re just asking the public if anyone knows who this person is, they can contact the Atlanta Police Department or Crime Stoppers.”
The Crime Stoppers tip line is 404-577-TIPS (8477). Online at www.crimestoppersatlanta.org. Anyone who provides a tip does not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for a reward up to $5,000.
