Atlanta police confirm a child has been hit by a vehicle on Monday morning on Memorial Drive near Hill Street in South Atlanta.

Officers, who confirmed it was a six-year-old boy, say the child was alert, conscious and breathing when they arrived.

The driver remained on the scene. It is not clear which school the child attends. Police say their investigation is continuing.
