ATLANTA — An active shooter situation in midtown Atlanta has left at least one person dead and four others injured.
Police have identified the suspect as Deion Patterson, 24. They say he is still on the loose.
Senator Raphael Warnock addressed the shooting from the floor of the U.S. Senate in Washington, D.C.
“Tragically, we act as if this is routine,” Warnock said. “None of us is safe, no matter where we are.”
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirmed that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have been briefed on the midtown Atlanta shooting.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens joined Atlanta police in asking for everyone in the midtown area to shelter in place.
