AMN IN-DEPTH: 2023′s graduating seniors were freshmen at the beginning of the pandemic

Thursday is the last day of school for students in Forsyth, Cherokee, and Fulton counties.

Fulton County Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney tells WSB Radio on Atlanta’s Morning News that this year’s graduating seniors were just freshmen when the pandemic started.

While there’s still catching up to do for some students, Looney says the district is using its covid-related funding wisely. He says educators are being retrained in that area, and schools are also more aware of how important it is to focus on the social and emotional health of students.
