April snow in North and South Carolina

If any snow fell in Georgia it went unreported while Charolette North Carolina had measurable snow in April for only the second time since 1915, the last being in 1982. Some flakes were seen in the highlighted area of South Carolina below as well:

The snow had to share space with pollen:

Of course even our best performing computer model ensemble the ECMWF EPS was forecasting snow for Metro Atlanta and the Georgia mountains for many days in a row, but I rejected any chance beyond a passing flake in Northeast Georgia.

You will see below how day after day this normally accurate model insisted on snow in Georgia but it moved location and amounts around with each passing day eventually catching on to reality at the last minute. I ignored the output and did not share it on social media because that would have been clickbait irresponsible. I dug into the model data and found significant snow in Georgia was not supported by the models internal thermodynamics.

GFS or ECMWF no model snow charts beyond 5 days should be shown IMO. Watch how the output changes from day to day:

So don’t post any model snow maps especially beyond 5 days and don’t trust anyone who does. And when you see one make sure you know it requires critical analysis of the data behind it by a trained meteorologist to know if or how much it is to be taken seriously if at all.
