(WSB Radio) – A woman in her 70s was found beaten to death inside her home in Gwinnett County Tuesday, while another woman in her 30s was injured in the attack.

The man who lives with the victim found her body around 3:30 p.m. near the back door of their house in the 1500 block of High Sierra Drive in Lawrenceville. Someone had forced their way into the home, police said.

“We have never had anything like that happen in the neighborhood,” neighbor Andrew Preston told Channel 2 Action News.

“Horribly shocked,” added another neighbor who did not want to be identified. “She minded her own business and so did we.”

Police said they are not sure if the woman was a relative or a tenant. The name of the man who found the body has not been released.

Police said that man’s girlfriend suffered “blunt force trauma about her body” during the attack. She was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are still interviewing the man and his girlfriend. Identities are being withheld pending the notification of the victim's family.
