A big weekend for 2016 presidential politics and Atlanta

If you love presidential politics then strap yourself in, we've got a fun weekend ahead. This is my NFL opening kickoff weekend, so I hope everyone is as excited as I am! First, we have the first Republican debate tonight in Cleveland, Ohio at 9PM. Immediately following the debate, the 9th Annual Redstate Gathering returns to Atlanta. 11 of the 16 Republican presidential contenders will be in town during this three day event and I'm really excited to be a part of the Redstate experience again. This is big for Atlanta and big for the country too.

This 1st debate is big for America because it sets the tone for the 2016 presidential election. Even if you're not involved in American presidential politics, you really should try to watch the highlights of tonight's debate. Why? Because too often we hear that there are not any good presidential candidates and especially the classic not enough choices argument. Wake up friends, this is the time to listen and essentially cut out the candidates you don't like and find the candidate you do like. You can't say you don't have choices when 16 candidates run for one party alone.  Again, there are 16 Republicans running for president. There are so many Republicans that Fox News won't put them all on the same debate stage. That's insane.

The Fox News primetime debate stage will feature Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie, Scott Walker, Rand Paul, and John Kasich. Folks, 7 of these top tier candidates are flying to Atlanta for the Redstate Gathering after the debate to sell their political platforms to us, including front-runner Donald Trump.

When you were growing up, do you remember your Kindergarten class? I remember my teacher asking all of my classmates what they wanted to be when they grew up. You heard careers from Firefighter to Astronaut. According to Gallup, a typical Kindergarten class has 23 children. Imagine having 16 of those 23 kids waving their hands, saying they wanted to be President of the United States. That’s crazy and we are witnessing history in the Republican field!

This is a unique time in American politics and the 2016 presidential election is quickly approaching. Strap yourself in and pay attention, or be you’ll be left behind.
