New Arrest in Historic Jewel Heist

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A sixth person has been arrested in connection with a multimillion-dollar jewelry heist last month in Forsyth County.

Forsyth County Sheriff’s officers picked up Christopher Lamar Funderburk at his Fairburn home Wednesday.

Funderburk, 32, was charged with burglary and theft by taking and is being held without bond in the Forsyth County Detention Center.

Authorities say thieves broke into the Milano Fine Jewelry store in Cumming sometime during the weekend of Sept. 24, stealing more than $2 million in jewelry and cash.

The group apparently entered the store through an adjacent mattress store, breaking through the walls, police said.

Lt. Col. Gene Moss said investigators found evidence that puts Funderburk “at the scene of the burglary,” and noted that the caper was well planned.

“As the investigation continues, it is becoming more apparent that this group is very organized,” Moss said.

Five others were arrested and charged in connection with the burglary in the past weeks since the heist. They include brothers Michael T. Holloway, 35, and Kenardis Demaine Holloway, 31, both of Smyrna, and their mother, Connie Holloway, 52, Carl Henry Bowser III, 26, and Amanda Hogan, 27.

All remain in the Forsyth County Detention Center. Police continue to investigate
