The case of that 13 year old boy, discovered in Jonesboro after vanishing four year ago, has prompted a renewed interest in missing children's case nationwide.

"It gives parents and law enforcement renewed hope," says Bob Hoever, with The Center for Missing and Exploited Children.  "It gives them a renewed interest in their cases and the impetus to keep going."

Hoever tells WSB the center has fielded more telephone calls over the past few days due to the coverage given to the case of Gary Jean, Jr.

The boy disappeared four year ago and had not been seen until this past weekend.  That's when Clayton County police went to Jean's father home and, after an extensive search, found the boy hidden in a small space above the home's garage.

The father, stepmother and three other have all been arrested.

Hoever says the case, which garnered attention in this country and around the world, shows parents that they need to keep trying to find their missing children.

"It gives hope, it ignites that spark in them," says Hoever, "to keep going and to never, ever give up."

He says the world has changed in the past decade and law enforcement and parents need to adapt to the new landscape of social media.

"There cases need to be kept in the media, they need to be kept in the public eye," he says, "and you always need to keep searching for those children."

And while a four year search for a missing child may seem extra long, Hoever says the center has had success finding children who have been missing for more than 18 years.

More information about the center, and missing children, can be found on their website at www.missingkids.com.
