SOUTH FULTON, GA — Young entrepreneurs and farmers are getting a chance to sell their products and build their business skills at the South Fulton Youth Market Thursday.

Children and teens are setting up booths at the Village Shops at Cedar Grove to sell homemade goods and fresh produce while learning skills that can help them grow their businesses.

Twelve-year-old Silaha Randolph participates in markets around Atlanta with her mother, selling fruits and vegetables they grow in their home garden.

“Cucumbers, watermelons, tomatoes, occasional grapes, muscadines,” Randolph said.

Randolph says participating gives her an opportunity to share something important to her family.

“It makes me want to share my passion and my mothers passion for plants and agriculture and how it’s such a big part of our lives,” Randolph said.

Along with produce such as figs and muscadine grapes, Randolph says her mother also uses what they grow to make other products.

“Oh and the peppers, my mom makes a bomb hot sauce!” Randolph said.

Randolph says she is also learning how to manage the money she earns.

“I kind of have a spending problem, so I have to keep that stuff in my pocket,” Randolph said.

Shoppers are encouraged to bring cash so the young vendors can practice counting change and interact with new customers.

Randolph says one of her favorite parts of the youth market is meeting other young people interested in farming and growing a business.

The South Fulton Youth Market runs from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Village Shops at Cedar Grove.
