WOODSTOCK, GA — The Woodstock Fire Department is mourning the off-duty death of Senior Firefighter Andrew McMichen.

Woodstock Fire Chief Shane Dobson announced McMichen’s death in a social media post.

“With a very heavy heart,” Dobson announced McMichen’s off-duty death.

The chief described McMichen as a valued member of the department, as well as a brother and friend to those who worked alongside him. Dobson said McMichen will be greatly missed and that his loss is deeply felt throughout the department.

Dobson did not provide a cause of death but said McMichen’s death was not in the line of duty.

The chief asked for privacy for McMichen’s family and for people to keep his family, friends and the entire department in their thoughts and prayers as they grieve his loss.
