DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A portion of Midway Road in DeKalb County has been reopened after closing due to a water main break on Friday morning.
The water main break damaged the roadway and left several homes without water on Friday. The water main has since been repaired by crews.
The break happened overnight in the 3100 block of Midway Road near Memorial Drive in the Belvedere Park neighborhood.
Water began spewing from beneath the roadway after a 6-inch water line ruptured, causing the pavement to buckle and crumble.
DeKalb County watershed crews were forced to shut off water service to several homes in the area while responding to the break.
There is currently no estimated timeline for when water service will be fully restored to the homes and businesses that were impacted.
