DEKALB COUNTY, GA — A portion of Midway Road in DeKalb County is closed after a water main break damaged the roadway and left several homes without water.

The break happened overnight in the 3100 block of Midway Road near Memorial Drive in the Belvedere Park neighborhood.

Water began spewing from beneath the roadway after a 6-inch water line ruptured, causing the pavement to buckle and crumble.

DeKalb County watershed crews were forced to shut off water service to several homes in the area while responding to the break.

There is currently no estimated timeline for when water service will be restored or when Midway Road will reopen.

Repairs to both the damaged water line and roadway are needed.
