TUSCALOOSA, ALA — University of Alabama officials have announced changes as they continue to closely monitor weather conditions ahead of Saturday’s football game against the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
The National Hurricane Center forecast says Isaias strengthened to a Category 2 on Thursday afternoon, with maximum wind gusts near 100 mph.
University of Alabama officials say “due to anticipated severe weather, gameday operations have been adjusted for Saturday’s game against Georgia.”
“At this time, the game remains scheduled as planned,” University of Alabama officials said. “However, due to the forecast for severe weather and high winds prior to kickoff, several early game-day activities and tailgating operations are being modified. Fans and visitors should stay alert of weather developments to make responsible decisions on travel and shelter during severe weather.”
University of Alabama officials say tailgating is prohibited on campus prior to noon Saturday, and only uncovered tailgating will be permitted after noon. This is in an effort to help protect the safety of fans and prevent damage from expected severe weather conditions.
University of Alabama officials also released the following updates:
- No outdoor activities permitted on campus before noon – unless weather impacts delay operations further.
- No tailgate drop offs or setups will be permitted Friday anywhere on campus. Any tailgating supplies placed before noon Saturday will be removed and discarded.
- Corporate tailgating vendors, including Gameday Done Right, will not set up on the Quad due to the forecast for severe weather and high winds during the overnight hours on Friday.
- Fans may access the Quad and other campus gathering areas after noon Saturday, though timing may be affected until those locations have been inspected and deemed safe.
- There will be no tailgate supply drop-off for the Quad Saturday.
- Weather permitting, personal tailgating will be permitted after noon.
- Electrical and power services will not be restored to the Quad until the University deems it safe.
Out of an abundance of caution, Gov. Brian Kemp also issued a State of Emergency order for the whole state of Georgia.
The center of Isaias is forecast to eventually move through west Alabama, potentially impacting the timing of play for the Georgia vs Bama game, currently scheduled for 7:30 pm on Oct. 10 in Tuscaloosa.
Alabama officials released a statement on Wednesday saying, “at this time, there are no plans to alter the contest. We will continue to observe conditions throughout the week and remain in communication with the Southeastern Conference Office, as needed.”
The Bulldogs are 5-0 during the 2026 season after a 38-17 win against Vanderbilt during homecoming weekend at Sanford Stadium.
