ATLANTA — Atlanta police have arrested two suspects after dozens of bullets were fired into the southwest Atlanta home of the communications director for Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.

Police say no one was injured when about 30 bullets struck Robert Sinners’ home on Wellington Street just before 1 a.m. Wednesday night.

“I went out and saw the neighbors chasing after somebody and then went out on my porch and realized that the entire front of my house had been shot up,” Sinners said.

Sinners says he was shocked by the shooting.

“I’ve never had any sort of issue that made me feel truly unsafe,” he said.

He says the shooting initially made him wonder whether he had been targeted because of his job.

“Working where I work obviously the thought crosses through your head of could this be some sort of act of political targeting,” Sinners said.

Atlanta police say the shooting was not politically motivated. Investigators say witnesses reported seeing the two suspects shooting at each other before both men ran from officers.

Police later arrested Gregory O’Neal Vaughn and Jermaine Darcel Howard. Charges are pending, and the investigation remains ongoing.

“I’m hoping at the end of the day that this isn’t a symptom of something greater,” Sinners said.
