ATLANTA — Toyota is recalling more than 225,000 vehicles because of a potential seat back issue that could increase the risk of injury during a crash.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects certain 2022 through 2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid vehicles.
Federal safety officials say the force of certain frontal crashes could cause the seat backs to become disengaged from their locked positions, preventing them from properly restraining passengers.
The issue could increase the risk of injury to occupants during a crash.
Toyota dealers will address the problem by updating software or replacing the affected seat backs at no cost to vehicle owners.
Toyota owners can check whether their vehicle is affected by visiting the company’s recall lookup website.
